Box Office article written by Neil Maxfield, Nov 2015: A brief history of Musical Theatre

'I was very fortunate last week to be invited to join one of the first West End Musical Theatre Walking Tours, a brand new attraction hitting the streets of Westminster, writes Nicky Sweetland. The tours, led by the wonderfully vivacious Neil Maxfield, pictured, take place every Friday and Sunday and are a fabulous way to see some of London's best and most famous theatres. Our capable guide, who shares some of the history and intrigue of each venue as you saunter around the West End, also entertains with characterisations and great renditions of some of the best loved and most famous show tunes. From Noel Coward to Gilbert and Sullivan, Maxwell puts on a wonderful performance from the busy pavements as other pedestrians pass by, looking on with intrigue and interest. We were even given a nice little pit stop for a drink on the way round, which added to the feeling of full immersion into the relaxed and magical world of theatreland. West End Musical Theatre Walking Tours take place every Friday at 6:15pm and Every Sunday at 11:30am. For more details go to
